Enrichment Opportunities
Brain Cutting Conferences
MUHA members have the opportunity to participate in witnessing a brain cutting conference on numerous occasions throughout each quarter to expand their breadth and depth of knowledge in different areas of medicine. Lead neurologists present an autopsied brain while reviewing different sections and structures of the brain. They provide thorough explanations as to how the brain changed according to the patient’s medical history (e.g. Alzheimer’s or other neurodegenerative disease). Medical student teaching will occur.
Grand Rounds
Grand rounds are designed to provide exposure to a myriad of different clinical fields. These lecutres specifically allow MUHA members learn about advancing research and clinical cases. Our selection of Grand Rounds include numerous specialties; Pediatrics, Ophthalmology, Pharmacology, Neurology, and more!
Mentorship System
In the year 2022-2023, MUHA implemented a mentor mentee system to educate, assist, and guide future healthcare providers in their journey in medicine. Based on a volunteer system, an upperclassman is paired with an underclassmen seeking additional guidance in their college years. This is a way to receive mentorship from those with years of accumulated experience while simultaneously building relationships with fellow undergraduate students. The medical journey is one that requires years of knowledge and this system was created to make it a more managable, enjoyable and memorable process!
